BC to pay for stop-smoking aids
VICTORIA – The BC Government is giving smokers something to get fired up about. Starting this fall the province will pay for a 12 week supply of nicotine replacement therapies. Premier Christy Clark says the program will help prevent cancer and lung disease. But how much will it cost taxpayers? Government has budgeted between $15-25 million a year. Resolved Question: electronic cigarettes: good or bad for a stop smoking aid?
I am a smoker, and have been for 4 years. Now the time has come for me to quit. I have tried patches and cannot use them (i seem to have an allergic reaction of some kind and get very sick when using them). So I’m looking for other alternatives, and a friend said an electronic cigarette may be able to help wean me off the addiction if I use ‘zero nicotine cartridges’.
So – do electronic cigarettes actually work or help as a stop smoking aid? and if so, where is the best place to get one from?
Also – i smoke about 15-20 a day, will this have any effect, and how often do the cartridges need to be replaced, as i am assuming one wont last forever.
Resolved Question: Which is the better stop-smoking aid, Champix or Zyban?
Please don’t patronise me by saying that NRTs work just as well, or that these are the lazy way ou tand you did it just by willpower, I’m very happy those methods work for some people but they don’t for me, I’m really trying and I need some help!!
I’ve also heard that they can disrupt your sleep quite a lot, if anyone has any advice as to how to combat this as well I’d be really grateful!
FYI the American name for Champix is Chantix.
