When you are really ready to quit smoking, try cold turkey first. The first 3 days (for some 5 days) are the hardest.
Find yourself a task which really demands your attention, and must be done and finished. If on top of that, you are also able to surround yourself with one or more supportive and pleasurable people during those few days, you stand the best chance of kicking the habit.
The reasons to pick up a demanding task, are to keep your mind of the withdrawal symptoms, and because smokers often associate smoking a cigarette as a reward for a job well done.
The reason to surround yourself with supportive and pleasurable people is because smokers often associate smoking a cigarette with socializing, discussing the happenings of the day, etc.
You have to rid off at least all these 3 addictions : physical : - withdrawal syptoms psychological : - "rewarding" yourself with smoking a cigarette - associating smoking with socializing, having fun, feeling good, etc
Now go ahead and reward yourself with a better life. That life can already start in 3-5 days.
