Made Up Stories 9 ( a JB story )

Kevin\’s POV “Nick smokes!” I glanced behind me and saw Kaitlyn standing there. “Well hello to you, too” “Nick smokes” she repeated. “I heard you the first time, Kaitlyn” I told her, and turned around to face her. She studied my face and then something dawned for her, and her jaw dropped “You know?” I nodded, “Yup” “And what have you done about it?” “I pay for his use of gum” I walked over to the bar and put down the list I had been checking off. “So you\’re doing nothing?” she followed me “But you\’re his older brother!” I shrugged “Since when did that mean telling him to stop smoking?” “Since you became his guardian!” she raised her voice. “Look, Kaitlyn.. Whatever I tell him not to do will only make him want do to it more. And I don\’t have the time to think about it all the time, and I sure as hell don\’t have the time to do something about it.. You see, this whole thing” I gestured to the room around me “Kind of takes up some of my time” I told her, and she crossed her arms stubbornly. “Well, I\’m gonna make him quit” she told me. “Good luck with that” I told her, and then reached for my phone as it had started ringing. I glanced down at the number flashing on the screen and saw that it was Frankie\’s school calling me. “You have got to be kidding me” Joe\’s POV I pulled my hands through my hair one last time, and then went to the living room and sat down; waiting for Kelly to arrive. After a little while the buzzer went off, and Nick, who was on his way to the kitchen

5 Steps Before you Take That First Step To Stop Smoking Easily.

I detail the 5 critical steps required before a Smoker takes That First Step – That Leap of Faith – to Stop Smoking Easily now!

A Word from the Garden

I\’m trying hard to become active again. Over the last few months I have been fairly sick and as I work from home I have become very inactive, so much so that even the smallest amount of exercise leads to intense pain in my right leg and shoulders. So we\’re taking it slow–walking about a quarter mile a day, until I build up some strength. We\’re also eating less. Our plan is to acclimate our bodies to a moderate amount of food, cutting down from the gluttonous amount we\’re used to. Once that\’s done we\’ll begin changing our diet, with the eventual goal of eating what a healthy person should eat, in the amounts a healthy person should consume. The same goes for exercise. Right now I\’m walking a very little bit, and also doing housework, gardening, etc. Soon, however, I can step it up a bit more, then a bit more, with the eventual goal being a solid workout regiment every day. I used to think that if I wanted to change then I would have to make the change all at once–it\’s a lifestyle change, after all, and if you want to do something you just do it! It\’s how I quit smoking, how I quit drugs. But I\’ve come to believe that this has to come with baby steps. I can\’t go from eating too much to eating next to nothing. I can\’t go from being completely inactive to walking a mile a day. But taken in gradual steps I think I can get there.

Open Question: Stop Smoking HELP!!!!!?

Ok I am 24 years old I started smoking weed at 10 and cigs at 12 about 2 packs a day. My father and his family has been smoking cigs around me since I came into this world so no one really ever caught on till I was about 20 when I started smoking in front of them. I have my marijuana license for anxiety (I was in a very abusive relationship for 4 years and was raped last year and I have Bi-Polarizm other medications have not been able to help me function as well as marijuana has). I have no plans in stopping that so please no lectures. However I want to be done with smoking cigs for good. I stopped about 2 years ago for 6 months when I got a horrible lung infection without any cravings or anything. I started again actually be shear accident. A friend of mine (who I actually got started smoking) came to visit me from my hometown we were in the car on our way to a bar and just handed me a cig and not thinking I smoked it. It was completely by accident we just were having a good time and got back into old habits. So i smoked another one and another and well you get the picture. I know it was stupid but really I thought that it didn’t matter at first. I have gone days and a few times weeks without smoking (no money does that to you) no cravings no agitation. I just don’t think and buy a pack when I had money go without when I don’t. Now I just got back from the doctor and he told me my lungs are of a 80 year old and my heart has been affected by smoking (I had no clue that smoking causes heart problems I thought it just screwed with your lungs). I have asthma and with family history of cancer, heart problems, and emphysema (i hope i spelled that correct) on both sides I want to be done with them for good. I really do enjoy smoking. My favorite thing to do is kick it with my friends in my garage smoking and talking and just relaxing. It is just a very mellow thing for us to do. I know this sounds stupid but I am not sure what to do if I don’t smoke. I actually get lost if I drive without cigs (I measure everything by how many cigs it takes to get to places). I am not like most smokers I can go to the movies without having to step outside for one, when I am around non smokers I usually go without (unless I am around to many people then it is my security “blanket”). I don’t want to takes any patches or drugs cause all they do is help with the cravings. I don’t get cravings, it is just the action of smoking I need to quit. Does anyone have any ideas on what i can “replace” smoking with. I am on day 2 of no smoking and really am doing good but I was good before and without thinking I bought a pack. I don’t need lectures or people saying just don’t buy them because everyone in my house smokes and I feel left out now. I truly don’t want to smoke anymore so please help if you can. Thank you

Resolved Question: How can you get someone you love to quit smoking?

I need some help to make my mother quit smoking once and for all. I should have done it a long time ago, but I still believe that there is a chance and the fight is not over yet. Anyways, she said she started smoking when she was in her early 20′s until now, her early 40′s. Now, I know around this age period and up to 70 years old, the chance of cancer is developing, because it is a median age. But based on her extremely healthy eating lifestyle and going to the gym every day, she could very well live up to 100.

She doesn’t drink, probably never has, but she does smoke a lot. Mind you, not 1 pack a day, maybe 5-6 cigs a day. She says she exhales as much as the smoke as she can, you know, doesn’t inhale everything like chain smokers do. I’ll admit, I used to be a smoker, I started with my first few cigs in grade 10, never actually bought a pack then, but I did some last year and this year, however, it was on and off with smoking, I’d take monthly breaks, and now as of last week, I quit, and it’s real easy for me. But only because I fear that I have some throat cancer which should be close to impossible at my age of 20 years old. Hopefully, there’s no findings when I go to the ultrasound for my thyroid and parathyroid and it’s just your average diagnosis of globus.

Anyways, because of this mental awaking, I’ve always wanted her to quit, but she can be very stubborn sometimes. So, if there are any success stories out there or tips on the first few steps, then please, do tell. I don’t want to sit in the doctor’s office and have him/her say that my mother has 5 years to live. I don’t want to be another poster boy for anti-smoking ads because I’ve lost someone to it, but most importantly, I don’t want to experience her dying at a young age in front of me. I think I’d kill myself without her guidance.

I know that some smokers have smoked for nearly decades and died without any cancer, which is truly incredible, but we have no family history of cancer. And she doesn’t drink at all, she’s vegetarian, she always eat very healthy, goes to the gym everyday, and as mentioned, she tries not to inhale most of the smoke, so that should at least cut her chances of getting any serious cancer by half, right?

Regardless, I want to make her quit, if she really wants to smoke something natural, she should try medical marijuana. I have never tried weed, but I’ve never heard a single cancer patient from it either. Hence, why they have medical marijuana; otherwise it would be a health risk, but it’s not.

Anyways, i’m getting off topic here too much, what are some alternative ways to make her quit?

Resolved Question: how to get your parents to stfu and listen to you?

me and my parents fight all the damn time. its the most ___ing annoying sh*t and its also over the same things. im 17 years old – il be 18 in about 3 months and my parents treat me like a baby. yes, i have made a lot of mistakes these last few years but the hypocrisy and bullshit of this house doesn’t help me see eye to eye with them at all! ive gotten arrested a few times for marijuana possession, something that both my parents did all through college and did up until the first time i was arrested. (and yes, i know for sure cuz i found there stash – a big, moist bag of nice ass purp). whatever. but then ive also been smoking cigs for about 5 years now, they’ve known about i for 4, and every time they catch me they throw up this big bitch fest and my mom goes on a tirade and says were all gonna quit! and then that night my step dad will go fiending outside for a cig, something hell do for 3 days until he tells my mom to fuck off and that hes not and wont quit. so then shell fight with him and just get “so worked up” she has to have just one last cig which leads to her never quitting. altho i never quit either of course. but i also don’t bitch and moan at my mom – despite the fact she PROMISED my childhood self she was gonna quit 6 years ago.

so basically, i just need to know how to make my parents remember that there not gods (even though there old as dirt compared to me and pay for the roof i sleep under). how can i remind them that im a human being and i have thoughts and opinions just as strongly as they do. how can i make them realize that its stupid to get mad at me for things like yelling when they started screaming first, or not quitting smoking when they haven’t either (and people with parents who smoke are almost always smokers…)? how do i just earn the respect i deserve as a fucking human being??
