Resolved Question: [REPOST] Will this end in a Happy Marriage, or Crash and Burn Train Wreck?
This is a repost since my first question was misinterpreted and left out details. So here goes.
This question came up during an after work talk during dinner with my wife about a coworker. PERSONALLY I DO NOT CARE, but I figure this would be a good question for this forum.
These are my wife’s coworkers I meet on a monthly basis for a company “party night”.
Here’s a little about them:
She is 22. Works on commission, and works part time each night at a bar to make ends meet. She is a Party girl. Very fun and free spirited. Looks wise she is a 9. She likes to binge drink and smoke pot when they party. She parties a couple times a week.
The guy is 25 and working minimum wage. Always joking around, and funny (to the point of being annoying). Nice guy but a little idealistic and mildly pushy. He is about 3 on the looks department according to the women. Also a bit of a partier.
I only mention looks since OTHER PEOPLE mentioned it, and some suggested that is why he is moving so fast “to seal the deal”.
The situation is, they have only known each other for 4 months. He was renting, but decided to buy a condo together. He bought the studio condo by maxing out 4 credit cards to get the down payment. He is co signing with a family member to secure the mortgage.
Neither have been married or had a relationship longer than 9 months,
The big bombshell came, when recently she found out she was one month pregnant. Its was unplanned. She has stopped drinking and doing drugs. but that was one week ago.
So the plan has changed from moving into together, to getting their first home, kids, and POSSIBLY (he is on the fence) getting married all in the same year.
Based on this info, what do you think? Do you think this will end well or crash and burn?

Voting Question: “Newly” acquired 1998 Honda Passport w/ engine rebuild less than two weeks and less than 250 miles ago. Smokin?
My dad, who is a Honda parts mgr, had one of the Honda “certified “technicians that he works with, rebuild it for me. From what I understand, it was the piston rings, cylinder heads, valve cover, etc… that were replaced. The parts that were machined were done so at a local machine shop here in town. I don’t know what originally made the engine blow, because I or my dad did not own it at that time. My dad acquired the vehicle with the blown engine, with the intentions of having the engine rebuilt and giving it to me after the rebuild. From what I understand, they had the rebuild complete approximately 3 months ago. After hooking all the wires and plumbing, etc…, they fired up the engine and it began to smoke. So, they tore the engine down once again, discovering that the machined parts that they got from the machine shop were machined incorrectly. So they rebuilt once again, after getting the parts that were machined back from the machine shop once again.
When I finally got the Passport from my dad he said that the Honda tech told him to tell me that the white smoke that I’ll witness coming out of the tailpipe is normal, and that it should stop smoking after I have driven it for a couple of hundred miles. As I stated earlier, I have now put at least 220 miles on it since the rebuild. Within this 2 week / 220 mile period, I have had to put at least 6qts of oil in it. Burning approx 1qt every 2 days (a conservative equation). Does this sound like the normal behavior that you get from an engine fresh after a rebuild??? Someone told me that an engine, after being rebuilt will smoke until it is driven enough to seal itself. Is this true? Also, the majority of the time, whenever I get into the throttle a little harder than I normally do, which is only between 2500 and 3500 RPM, I can hear what sounds 2 be a whistling noise coming from the engine, but as soon as I drop the RPM’s back down around 1500 – 2000, the whistling noise stops. I can vaguely remember reading in a forum somewhere, that the whistling noise is caused by a whole in some gasket (can’t remember which one). Does this sound correct? In addition, the check engine light came on after about a week of me driving it. Today, I had my check engine light looked into. 3 different codes popped up. The 1st code(P1133), came in as a fuel metering code. The 2nd code(P1153), also came in as a fuel metering code. The 3rd code(P440) came in as an Evap leak. The mechanic that read the codes off 2 me said that the first 2 codes (P1133 and P1153), most probably means that the engine is running rich or it’s running lean. The comment he made about the 3rd code (P440), was that I could have set it off by not having the gas cap screwed on all the way or something else. I wish I new what his something else meant. Also, the majority of the time whenever I get into the throttle a little harder than I normally do, which is only between 2500 and 3500 RPM, I can hear what sounds 2 be a whistling noise coming from the engine, but as soon as I drop the RPM’s back down around 1500 – 2000, then the whistling noise stops. I can vaguely remember reading in a forum somewhere, that the whistling noise is caused by a whole in some gasket (can’t remember which one). Does this sound correct?
