The Last Day – 17/3/10 – Day 0


I have decided to summon as much resolve as possible and stop smoking, I have tried before and more recently a lot of failed attempts, though this time I\’m really hoping to achieve it. I am a very very heavy smoker, I chain smoke and thought keeping a vlog, vblog? of it would encourage me to keep up with it this time. Last time I used a Blog on myspace and it really helped :) I\’m not expecting anyone to watch these and if anything just made for myself to look back on and something to do and think about when cravings really hit hard :/ However, any comments of support (or ridicule, i guess) are most welcome, specially if an ex-smoker happens upon one of these. Also any tips / advice most welcome. Okay, hopefully see you tomorrow evening where I will be saying how hard yet satisfying the first day without nicotine was.

Open Question: ive smoked since i was 9 how can i quit? please help.?
Im 16 and ive been smoking since i was 9, i no it’s descusting but what done is done, i wish i could turn back time and never start.
I find it extreanly hard to go longer than about an hour without a fag.. I start getting figity and stressy.
and tips and advise on how to quit im having a reay dificult time!
also have i done any damage to my body that won’t go away? like any perminant damage?

I get valium from the doctor. I smoke an eigth of weed twice a week. I enjoy 1.5 liters of wine once a week, and I enjoy tobacco while drinking. I am having a hard time not wasting my money on these things. I have tried to quit many times, but now all I think is that trying to quit means failing and that submission to the problem will mean victory. Do you have any advice for a poor addict? Open Question: Getting Healthy – Where to start?!?
I am looking for some help with getting fit, losing weight and getting healthy.
I am sorry the question is so long, but i have no idea what i’m doing!! I would appreciate answers from people who have successfully lost weight, and got healthy but anyone with any useful knowledge is appreciated too!

Here’s some info about myself:
I am a 23 year old female. I am approx 5ft4″ and I’m approx 210lbs.

I am [obviously] very overweight. I do no exercise, and i definitely over-eat. I know I need to cut down on food and increase activity, but after years of neglecting my body – where do i start?
By the way – I am not a fussy eater and will eat most food. so as well as junk food, i eat healthy food – so it should be easy for me to find things to eat.
I have smoked for about a year, but am in the process of quitting. I have not smoked for a couple of weeks and don’t intend to start again. [fingers crossed!]
I am a dress size 22, [in the u.k] don’t know what that is elsewhere.
I do not feel comfortable with the idea of joining a gym and exercising in front of other people, at least while i’m just starting out.

My problem is, i just don’t know where to start? i have lots of questions, so i will put them into bullet points, so they are easy for people to address.

1.) How do i exercise? what kind should i do? how do i build up from nothing to an effective programme?
2.) should i look at calorie intake,fat intake, size of meals, size of portions?all of them? none of them?
3.) how often should i exercise? how many times a week? for how long each time?
4.) Can i lose weight and stay toned? i don’t wanna end up with flabby skin!!
5.) How can i lose weight sensibly and then keep it off?
6.) how much water should I really be drinking? can i drink anything else if I’m not keen on water?
7.) How do i know my ideal weight, so i can work out a realistic goal?
8.) How long should I give myself?
9.) Any tips on improving will power? because I have none!
