Open Question: How to Quit MARIJUANA cold turkey?
I been trying to quit week with no success.I Smoke everyday,it is so hard for me to do without.I really want to stop,but the urges always over take me.I have a great job,that tested for drug.I been getting away with using my sister urine.Now i hear that they soon will start supervising the people when they urine..Now i am in trouble.I want to stop cold turkey,but is it possible???After smoking weed for 9 years straight,everyday non stop.The most craiziest thing is that weed do not effect my proformance at work or school.I just love to do it when i get home from a hard day.It is hard for me to sleep without it.I do NOT have time for a drug program and i tried it already.So please do not suggest that.I went to a program for 6 months and was still dirty the whole time.Everytime i left the program i would go smoke!I know i have a small problem with the urges.How do i get rid of it?Have anyone reading ever quit cold turkey after smoking constanly?What methods did you use?I really need to quit before i lose my job.

My friend and I were riding around in my car last week when we were pulled over and arrested for simple possession of marijuana. He was smoking; I wasn’t. He was also driving while I was in the passenger seat, because we were not in our hometown and only he knew the way around. Anyway, the police arrested us both for the weed they found (he had it stuck in a small compartment underneath the dash), even though it belonged to my friend and he was the only person smoking it. I quit smoking years ago because I had to go through this before, although I wasn’t actually arrested and booked that time. I went through the Pre-Trial Intervention program for 1st-time offenders and got the weed charge expunged. My friend also went through PTI before for a gun charge he recieved years ago and got that expunged, as well. So, back to the story.. the cops charged us both for the simple possession. On our court date next week, I’m pleading ‘not guilty’ because of obvious reasons, while he IS pleading guilty. I would like to know what will most likely happen in court. For instance, will I be cleared of the charge as long as my friend pleads guilty to it. And he would like to know if his driver license will be suspended? Any advice or information is greatly appreciated!
I forgot to mention, after we were arrested, the cops did not read us our Miranda rights before asking us where the weed was or who it belonged to.
We live in South Carolina.

I met my husband back in 2000. ON my birthday – started dating on his (both in april). By december, I found out he was pregnant (he had told me he was sterile). Well obviously not. in 2001 we had a baby boy. The entire time I was pregnant, he would force me to carry the groceries up the 3 flights of stairs, call me a whore (cheater etc). Our son had issues growing up, and I had been told by many professionals to have him checked. I got him into a private program, but whenever we were offered to have somene come over to help us with his issues (ADHD) husband would make excuses (too tired, son has nothing wrong etc).
Throughout the 10 years, he would lose his patience so quickly… hitting/kicking/pinching son. He would insult me if I didn’t do things the way HE wanted them. I started gaining a lot of weight, and he would skip between loving and caring support to downright insulting me.
Over the years, my husband has taken money from me (to spend on adult films). One day I came home and saw that he had charged up the cable bill to $400 over the course of 3 days (days I was working and he had off) in adult videos. When I confronted him about it, he laughed and said he was just reading the information and didn’t realize that he ordered them… THEN proceeded to pay for it out of his and MY money. I had told him that if he hadn’t watched it – he should contact the cable company, and if they saw that the movie wasn’t viewed, they could refund him…. no go.
I’ve been trying to quit smoking over the past 8 years, and each time I try, he begs me to smoke again – how it’s sexy… bla bla bla. I would quit for a week, and he would buy me a new pack of smokes and guilt me into doing it. If I refuse he would call me down.
I have put up with his emotinal and verbal abuse for years. Twice I had confronted him… and he felt bad enough to agree to counselling (I would spend a LOT of time getting them set up). By the time the counselling comes around, he blows it off by either saying he’s too tired or say “look I’m good now… I haven’t yelled at you or kids, I haven’t hit the boy… let’s just leave it as is”.
I’ve talked about goign to counselling myself for depression – and he FLIPS out saying… “what do you have to be depressed about?!?”
I’ve realized for a while that i was no longer recieveign my bank statements… I got home before him one day last year, and saw it sitting in the mail. When I opened it up – I was seeing that he was taking out money here or there ($20 one day, $100 another day etc). And all the while, he was giving ME heck for being a spendthrift.
Last night, he was doing his own thign, and my son was trying to ask him a question – and he turned around and practically screamed at him to “Shut the F&&& up! Stop asking stupid questions”.
This morning, I found out he had used my email address to sign up for a porn site… which charges $60 a month! I was trying to figure out why new emails are getting flooded with pornographic emails, and junk mails – I only give my mail out to friends and trusted sites.
What I’m asking is – what do you recommend? I’ve put up with so much of his crud over the past 10 years, counselling is out (he downright refuses it or blows it off) – he won’t allow ME to have counselling… I don’t mind porn – but when he spends hundreds of MY dollars on it (then blames ME) , it just ticks me right off. I’ve confronted him about things calmly – and he blows a gasket.
What do I do???? I’m at a loss!! I love him – I really do. But it’s dragging me AND my family down.
My friends tell me I need to kick him out – but if I do, I’ll be left with nothing, he’ll take everything and turn it all around on me. IN fact I’ve tried to kick him out twice! And he turns all sweet and agrees that he has to change – then within a few weeks he’s back to his normal self.
His family is all I have (they know about our problems, and they do support me – and tell him to smarten up). My own family abandoned me when they found out that I had reported my stepfather for molesting me as a child.
other problems
- I cannot go out with my girlfriends… I went out twice in the 10 years we’ve been together. All my friends are now online. 
I also cannot pay off my bills. He has me thousands of dollars in debt – he has no credit, so he gets me to take out loans for stuff he likes (e.g. vacations, payments etc)
I cannot move… rent is phenominal here. If I go to women’s shelter, my pets would starve.
I don’t think his family would forgive me for booting him out. If I talk to them, they’ll tell him right away. He’s their son first before I’m their daughter (which it should be really).
