Open Question: Tinnitus is so hard to over come, Fighting for a cure, Input welcome?
I developed a ringing/buzzing noise in my right ear on aug 22nd 2009. After a trauma due to slap to the ear that burst my eardrum. The ENT thinks the slap also caused slight nerve damage. So ever since that day it’s been 24/7 ringing.
Some people can live with it like it’s not even a issue, but as far for me it’s really effected my physiology. Sometimes people will come back with “It’s not life threaten and atleast you do not have cancer or any missing limbs” which it 100% true and my heart goes out to anyone that has gone threw this. Yet many times the person that is saying this has not gone threw the torment of tinnitus.
Many times All I hear is no cure/no hope when it comes to Tinnitus. Yet I’m fighting this tinnitus as hard as I can. The doctor gave me prednisone which is a steroid that promotes healing. I workout 20-60 min cardio and some weightlifting to de-stress my body 5 days out of the week. I quit smoking, cut back on my drinking, very light not daily. It’s not as loud but doesn’t mean its not as annoying. I often get discouraged when I don’t see improvement in the ringing after many, many lifestyle changes. That is the battle I’m going through. I wanna work toward the goal of banishing tinnitus but if I see no improvement. What’s the motivation to do better? I try to avoid loud places like sporting events and concerts things I ENJOYED dearly before the tinnitus. I am thankful that I do not notice my tinnitus in my daily life as much, i’m a full time student and whenever I’m outside for whatever reason the ringing is not there. So I can feel blessed in that regard.
Since the accident I’m on Valium and Lexapro not just because of my tinnitus but it was a major reason I sought out help. I do suffer from depression and anxiety, I used to get high and I wont lie getting high is pleasant but if I could pick drugs or a sober happy, peaceful life I would pick sober. I regret getting wasted in my past. I should of got help with my depression and not self medicate with alcohol and drugs.
And got out of the abusive relationship with a female that cause the damage in the first place. People think it’s funny or doesn’t happen but men can be victims of domestic abuse as well as women.
I just want a second chance at life. Has tinnitus effecting anyone else life this deeply? What are some useful tips/drugs? Should I keep fighting for the cure?
Open Question: I have smoked pot every day for the last 10 years, what will happen if I quit?
I have been a daily pothead since my sophomore year in high school. I am now 25 years old and I want to go to college and make something of my life, but I am worried about my marijuana dependency and the effects it has had on my memory and critical thinking skills.
What should I expect in terms of withdrawal if I quit cold turkey? I know this is weed not heroin, and my “addiction” is more of a mental thing than a physical thing, but I am still worried that my brain has gotten so used to being high that I won’t feel “normal” without my daily toke.
I feel that pot isn’t a totally bad thing, it helped me cope with depression when I was younger but lately every time I smoke I get paranoid and the high just isnt enjoyable like it used to be. I also haven’t put much effort into college or a career and I am getting too old to work a low end job and live at home with my father.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation or have any advice for me? I have been in denial for years about the possible negative effects of my beloved herb, but am coming to the realization that maybe its time for a change, maybe its time for me to quit for at least a while to see what life is like completely sober all the time.
Please don’t respond if you have no experience with what I’m talking about. I don’t need someone who has never smoked to just tell me “pot is bad mmkay”.

Went to the doctor not for depression and told him I was sad over this girl I used to like and he prescribed me citalophram I told him I was just love sick not clinically depressed I did not think I should have taken anything but I eneded up taking half of a 20 mg pill so about 10mg just once and stopped a.s.a.p cold turkey after one from the most awefull side effects mainly hallucinations I have a history of LSD use and I cant stop seeing mild hallucinations weeks after taking the pill will these hallucinations ever stop will brain ever fell normal again- Serious answers please I dont want to hear things like it will last forever this will just scare the hell out of me also I only get 5 hours of sleep and quit smoking and drinking caffeine all in one day after the pill ingestion please help me

my sister in law is due this week – she is a smoker 
who did not give up and was given foolish advice from the nurse at the hospital she is having her baby at. She was told that she should not bother quitting because it was too late anyway and that many woman who smoke have healthy babies!
anyway they told her the baby’s head needed to grow another cm….I have just had a baby and thought that babies generally are just putting on weight at this stage not needing to gain head growth….Is something wrong with her baby?
thanx – it is encouraging to know things should be OK. As a non-smoker it is very difficult to understand how someone can make that sort of compromise with their health or baby’s health. Then again if someone said no sugar, not a grain in anything…. I would have had to cut down slowly because ‘cold turkey’ would have been too hard. lol

Resolved Question: 12 week scan, how common is it not to have a heartbeat?
I entered my 13th week of pregnancy yesterday, and have my first proper ultrasound scan on wednesday. I went for a scan at 7 weeks, after I passed a clot, and they showed me the heartbeat and the baby, who was the size of an 8 weeks.
Since then I have had the odd cramp in my tummy, but havent passed any blood or anything, probably just down to growing pains.
The thing is, I cant stop worrying that when we go for the scan on wednesday that there will be no heartbeat. I know I am pretty much out of the woods getting through my 12th week and seeing the heartbeat at an earlier stage, but I am a smoker (please dont judge me, I have been told to cut down not quit due to the stress on the baby, and I KNOW it is awful but it hasnt sunk in that I’m pregnant yet), and scared that by smoking I have ruined my babys heartbeat. DEspite having all the pregnancy symptoms, nausea sickness, sore breasts etc, I still dont feel pregnant, like it hasnt sunk in.
Does anyone know what the probablility of no heartbeat at 12/13 weeks is? Also, did anyone else feel like they werent pregnant at this stage? Thanks

My boyfriend is 21. He used to be a bum. Not attending school, no job, and a major pot-head. After we started dating, his mother says “he changed.” He stopped pot and he got a job. -His house is so dirty, the curtains have not been washed in years.
-Because of his chain smoker parents i stink like smoke when I leave there.
-His parents are seriously broke as jokes
-His mom goes around the house picking up change
-His mom uses her medication as a form of currency..Such as ill give you a Valium if you go get me a coffee.
-His mom left her bra sitting around the house and it had cigarette burns on it.
-There carpet is filthy my socks are stained when I leave.

-His parents are both unemployed.
-His father is a alcoholic/and has gambling issues.
-His mother has depression.

when i first started dating my already husband i asked him to quit smoking since i completely hate the smell and i consider some people smoking weed complete losers (this is my personal opinion don’t comment on that). he comes from the family that smokes A LOT. like seriously they will give away their last 20 bucks to get some weed. his brother was arrested once for smocking while driving on the clock.!!!!!! he risked to lose his job and license just to smoke weed. all his friends also smoke and i dont really get along with them and dont even want to since they all behave like a bunch of kids.
so my husband did quit and he hasnt been smoking for 2 years now. but i recently found out that while chatting with ppl from like high school who he didnt see for years on like facebook he still offers them to go out n smoke a dutch. then he told me that he does wanna smoke smtimes (yeah and they say weed is not addicting). and most of his friends always tell him what a looser he is since he let some girl tell him whether he has to quit or not!!!!!! they tell him to leave me and find someone better who will not have a big problem about weed!!!! and he told he is embarrassed to tell people to quit because i asked him to.

Open Question: Do you think i sound skinny?
Hey guys
i am 15 yrs old gurl, and 170cm tall (5′ 7” i think is the same?)
and i weight 49-50kg (the same as 110.23 pounds i think?)
my bmi is 17 and i look/feel very skinny people always comment me being too skinny, and say i look anorexic.
i eat lots of food and i am geneticly skinny, have high metabolism.
is there any ways for me to gain weight and get into a much more curvy shape?
could i smoke a lot, and then quit and gain lots of weight? is it true that smoking works to gain weight?
Open Question: Mensural Cycle gone wrong.?
I recieved my period when i was 11. Up untill the age 13 & 14 that’s when i started to notice it was turing abnormal. I had a period for weeks and weeks (3wks or more) blood clots bad…. then. & they would also skip. When I turned 19 i started birthcontrol. It make them normal but then i quit taking them when i was just about turing 20 because i thought they were making me gain weight but it was my own genes doing that bit. I recently had surgery in Feb. 2009 because i was dignosed with an ovarian cyst and large mass tumor on my left ovary. Scarry but it was non-cancerous. I had open major surgery… the tumor was the size of 3L soda bottle. It was removed and I was recovering well… i was then again put back on birthcontrol for the next three months my periods were normal. perfect i loved it. After those three months…. i stopped the birthcontrol again because it cost 35 dollors a month for my daily pills and … my period has stopped as well.
what could this be? i’m not pregnate, i take pg test every two weeks, i dont drink, i smoke the ganja but that’s not harmful, i workout, i eat ok…, there is some stress in my life… i just dont’ know.
along with the removal of the tumor
they had to take my left ovary as well… so i only have one… my right.. could this make this big effect????

Open Question: How to find support and motivation for women trying to quit smoking?
I’ve been smoking since I was in high school and have decided that I really want and need to quit. As dumb as this sounds, I have some resistance to it. I think a lot of it is psychological because I never smoke around my boyfriend anymore and am better able to deal with it than I thought (I don’t even sneak cigarettes anymore). Although it’s a filthy habit (and expensive one, too), a part of me is afraid of having to give it up. I’ll smoke when I’m stressed or after a big meal. There is this weird attachment to it. Of course, I worry about gaining weight too.
This is something I want to do, I tell myself that if I do it, I’ll have accomplished something that many people would also like to do. Do you think it’s harder for women to quit smoking (that’s what I’ve heard)? If you ever had a hard time quitting due to psychological reasons, how did you overcome them? Anyone ever try any online support groups for quitting? Thanks for taking the time to read this, I look forward to hearing from you (I need all the help I can get).
